Also here because of Etho. I actually found a daylight sensor-based rain detector by Cubfan from 2014 that definitely predates this, but this design is definitely simpler and more elegant!

Love your work, built your villager trading hall several years ago and it worked great.

I think this only works during the daytime because at night the light one wouldn't be on actually I think I just thought of something what if you made a bridge between the gap between the night one and the light one

This is pretty cool, combine this with a fire based one and you get a detector that consumes half as much Flint and steel, these damn machines consume a lot of it! By my estimates it's two flint every minecraft day (20 mins). This adjustment reduces the consumption by *at least* 50% even more if you sleep at night
