I think the most groundbreaking moment in this entire anime is when Isabella is walking up to check on Ray only to hear him sing the song only she knows. The same song she sung to her own child. Finally realizing that Ray IS in fact HER child. The shock and horror she felt when she finally realized she was going to have to raise her own baby and give him up like cattle.

I literally felt so bad for Mom in this scene that I cried, it's the way people forget about her in this clip that breaks me. She made it so obvious how little she tried to hold back Emma from leaving cuz she was making it so clear how happy she was to let them escape since she couldn't when she was in their place, and how she just let them leave without doing much.

I Always thought she was the villain at the start, but in the end, she was forced to do that to survive. Isabella suffered a lot.

Isabella is such a compelling character. She’s not evil or completely desensitized. It always felt like she truly did love all the kids and her friends, and at some point, convinced herself the only way to keep them alive, somehow was to live on in their memory so while she tried to stop the kids from escaping I think a part of her was so happy and relieved to see them get out.

Some reason people don’t like this anime but i think it is interesting and fun to watch but also sad that the fact that the mother has to face this, her children are leaving but she is still happy because they will survive and be free. :c
