I work in wildlife rehabilitation, and mainly feed baby animals that come in to the clinic. Opossums are the most common animal we get in, and they’re my favorite! As babies, they make little chirping noises and when they see you they reach out and want to climb all over you ❤❤❤

Imagine how rarely a possum would get to eat a treat like this. A whole entire apple, fresh, unblemished, not in the garbage or half-eaten or rotting. How would a possum ever get that themselves? It must be like finding a treasure for them.

Possums do so much for humans that we don’t appreciate. They are AMAZING at insect pest control, and honestly, their only defense is hissing, and playing dead. Whomever left these snackies out for the adorable possum, thank you. You’ve inspired me to do the same (we are also putting up bat houses, and a few other things to help the little critters during winter).

It’s hilarious when they do this. We heard a heck of a commotion outside and it turned out to be a possum trying to eat an apple on a window ledge. He kept smacking it against the ground like this.

I left a bunch of sliced apples instead. Seemed to help.
