One of the questions I get asked ALL the time is, ‘how many strobes do I need to have? The reason that is such a tough question is that there is no right answer!

In this video I'll show you the same model, in the same wardrobe, on the same background... but shot 3 different ways. You'll see how 1, 2, or 3 strobes can transform the look of the shot!

I'll tell you my thought process for each and how I've created three drastically different looks with minimal adjustments.

Which one do you like best and why? Let me know in the comments! I'd love to hear your thoughts!

1 because I love black and white and high contrast. But I’m this video, I think the 3rd is best because of the blue cast on her face. It’s king of magical. :)

Love the two light shot, all the images are wonderful but for me your second shot is the one that stands out more.

Oh wow, beautiful shots all three Lindsay Adler! It is great that you showed us what 1, 2 & 3 lights do individually showing us what can be done. I'll dare say that when budgets are tight treat it the same way you deal with having just one Lens, maximize what you got first and build up as your budget allows. Thanks Lindsay Adler for sharing so much and to ADORAMA for having someone of the level of Lindsay Adler in their great channel!

Lindsay, I don’t know how do you manage to be both, an excellent teacher and an amazing photographer, at the same time. I love all your videos, your explanations are so clear even for a spanish speaking guy like me. Thanks Lindsay and Adorama for sharing this content!

I love them all for different reasons. If I had to pick one, it would be #3. The gels add interest.

Thank you Lindsay. Beautiful shot. My fav is the 3 lights set up and I also like the first set up as a one light to sculpt the cheeks bone and good contrast.

I like 2. The natural color of her skin, hair and lips contrasting with the jeweled costume does it for me. Thanks Lindsay!

Thank you for an amazing video as always... I like the 3rd one better because it separates better the subject from the background and the gel adds drama..

I liked the 1 light set up the most but I'm def in a dark n moody mood at the moment. Look 3 is also awesome. Great vid. quick and to the point.

Loved the 3rd light set up cause of the blue gel and the way it changes the whole vibe of the shoot, but I gotta say that my favorite one was the one light photo. That ending result was amazing.

How many strobes do I need to have? Too many. How many strobes do I need to use in a given shot? 1 or more - it depends. That sums up, Lindsay, your position. And you illustrate again to master it. Which shot do I like? It depends. IMO 1 and 3 are more flattering for the model. Nr three has the model more separated from the background (my preference) and the blue in the shade makes it special, it also seems to make the blue in model's irises a tad more lively. Nr one in B&W is less sensitive to that separation desire - doesn't need that. Your control of the light with the cheek bones and dimple below the bones is remarkable. Excellent work.

You used them all in a Unique Way👌

To me it would be a question of versatility. I would definitely go with all set ups and the last being my BEST choice, Gels👌🙏

Thanks Lindsay💥👐
