I can't watch much of the walk about video because I get motion sick so easily - but I sure like listening and peeking at the scenery once in awhile!

I remember going up there fishing with my father in the 80's and the water was almost all the way to that cement trail. And there were no bushes near the banks like that. Also there was a summer camp set up there with canoes. That lake used to be busy on the weekends packed with people. The last time I had been there was in 1996 and the lake still had water in it. I used to run off hiking in those woods while my dad fished.

Pretty area. I heard a Stellars Jay give you a good scolding. I like the blue Jays and bird activity

Cool overview. I filmed a small portion of the lake but regret not filming more.
I might have to revisit the lake to refilm the lake since I live close by

That sounds like a nice place, and the name has a ring to it... lol. There is also a Jenks Oklahoma. On my list for a vacation, run some summer.

Matt, after I watched this video I looked up the location out of curiosity. The algorithm must have noticed because I have now been suggested 2 different videos about Jenks lake. Apparently the inflows had been dammed at some point further up, the theory is that it was fly fishermen. Anyhow the lake is up about 1 foot since the illegal dams were destroyed.

Too bad you live on the other side of the country. It would have been nice to meet you at the Smoky Mountain Bigfoot Conference!

Hi Matt...I live in northern CA now, but, I'm from Crestline and was wondering what Silverwood lake looks like now. Also Lake Arrowhead. Thanks for sharing.

This global drought just seems to be getting worse every year . Do you know of any areas out there that are staying at normal or above normal levels ? Wildfires happen and in most cases are good for the ecosystem but it seems like we are reaching a point of no return with ground water levels .
Thanks for the walkabout! ✌️

It's pronounced Jenks, not Jenk-eez. The diversion gate was not destroyed in the Lake Fire, the diversion gate was closed which stopped the flow into Jenks Lake. I'd lose the flip flops for hiking in the forest, the FD doesnt need more rescues for unprepared hikers.
