What book are you officially DNFing and leaving in 2020?

I love when Emily embraces DNFing. I feel like most readers put so much pressure on themselves to finish things even when we don’t like the dang book. HER MINDSET IS SO REFRESHING 😌

I feel like I need to apply DNF to relationships 😂. After sticking through it and giving the person several chances, I just gotta leave it 😆

Yes! That’s real booktuber right there. Not these fake ones that spew their passion for all the books in the world. Dnf is ok! And it should happen a lot for a lot of new readers for them to find books that enjoy reading

I’ve read about 270 books this year and dnf’d about 30 more. Honestly there’s something liberating about knowing yourself well enough to give up on a book. I don’t have time for books that make me angry or won’t go anywhere at all... there’s better stuff out there to read for me! It helps that I borrow a lot from the library. It means I can try new things. After all, sometimes I love it!

as someone who finished To Sleep in a Sea of Stars, DNFing was 100% the correct choice.

Dodged a bullet with the throne of glass series! I hate-read all of them up until the last book (it was too long to hate-read) because they are readable but every horrible trope that exists is used and is full of deus ex machina. But I’ll admit I wanted you to continue just so I could commiserate with you haha

Sometimes if I dont like the first chapter I'll DNF. like, there are no rules here. Reading is for fun and fun only. I havent been in a single reading slump this year just because of that

I really need to learn to DNF books, I pushed all the way through Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires and HATED IT yet hoped it would get better haha

So... I guess To Sleep in a Sea of Stars put you to... sleep? xD

Honestly though, I still have this in my TBR, I didn't like Eragon and I'm worried that I'll dislike it, too!

I was so worried City of Stairs would be on this list. But it's not, yay !!! Can't wait for you to read it.

Good call there with the Throne of Glass series.
I'm dnfing the ACOTAR series finally. Read the first three and can't deal anymore. I don't think I'll ever be picking up ToG either.

Very much agree with your take on thinking fast & slow. Interesting topic and the author is clearly brilliant but I didn’t have the attention span to finish and I think that’s the case for many who claim to love it

Books I've dnfed this year:
- The angel of crows
- Óptima Terra
- House of leaves

I do also have a pile of shame of books I just stopped reading for some reason

I felt the same about "Thinking Fast and Slow." I got bored with it, and it was repetitive. I wanted to say to the author, "Okay, I get it, move on."

To let it go can be really hard sometimes so I haven't dnf anything this year. I am seriously considering going full Marie Kondo next year though

should've dnf'ed: Alice in Wonderland, Someone New by Laura Kneidl, Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin, Valley of Fear by Arthur Conan Doyle, Solange die Nachtigall singt by Antonia Michaelis, Confessions of an English Opium Eater by Thomas de Quincey, Kiss Me Once by Stella Tack, Last Memoria by Rachel Emma Shaw, Vinegar Girl by Anne Tyler, Up All Night by April Dawson.
Didn't actually DNF any books this year but by god that list up there is way too long
