"So you were researching Covid, and you had to take a step back?"
One of the saddest revelations in ages.

The Daily Show's budget is clearly bigger than I imagined for them to be able to afford a Spiderman cameo. And during a pandemic no less

the problem with this skit is that it's too realistic. i wasn't even sure if it was funny because I was too busy crying through my stress.

before the pandemic people in my family always questioned my decision to not have kids. They don't ask anymore.

“We are looking up a Pokemon...which is my other, new PhD-level area of expertise.”
Lol Spoken like a true parent. Lol

I love how all the kids just came in during the meetings. Now that's unscripted. I love how they also bleeped her son's face they're just like "Spiderman's identity is too great to risk revealing. He must remain anonymous" reverse JJJ

We're still working; just not for someone else.

I work from home and my spouse is an "essential worker", this video shows quite accurately how it is at home. A little advice to those in this situation: Active noise-canceling headphones and a ton of patience... Maybe meditation, but make sure to use the headphones while meditating too.

The Pandemic only exacerbated a long-standing issue bringing it to the attention of the public. Women who work have always been expected to 'take care of' childcare so they're completely available for work. Rediculous that women have to pay to have their children cared for but men just expect women to care for their child.

Something else that needs to be done: men stepping their game up. Women perform so much unpaid labor, it's no wonder why our careers take a hit when childcare is no longer available. Yes, we need institutional change, but also we need to stop framing childcare and housework as a woman's burden.

No kids but I’ve been taking caring of two elderly (one sick) parents and my brother has done zip all year to help so there’s that, too. 🤷‍♀️

I definitely saw it happen to most people i know. The woman automatically had to stay home. It wasnt even a question for the dad to stay home even if they made the same amount of money. The woman quit her job or had to find a way to work from home. A few of them only had a part time job so it was a no brainer for the mom to quit and stay home.
For others who just couldn’t afford it no one stayed home and older kids stayed home alone or they baby sat the younger ones. You had to do what you had to do🤷🏻‍♀️
Props to parents out there cz idk how i would have handled it. I definitely saw many complaining that now they had to be at home with their kids, which annoyed me, but for the most part parents stepped it up and i made sure i gave them praises for their efforts🙌🏻

I firmly believe that we need to implement a sick leave (as well as maternity leave) program for all full time workers in this country. I personally feel that every full time worker in this country regardless of their job should be guaranteed at least 2 weeks of sick leave and 2 weeks vacation per year. In addition to guaranteed sick leave, we also need to allow both mothers and fathers who just had a baby to be guaranteed time off with pay as well, so that way businesses can ensure that their employees at all levels can come into work feeling their best and contributing their best physically and mentally everyday.
Finally, I firmly believe that "Working Poor" should not be a thing! If you work full time every week of the year, you shouldn't be living at or below the poverty line in this country! Hence why I feel there should be a Universal basic Income for every American citizen above the age of 16 based on what the poverty level is so that way no one who works full time should have to financially struggle to get by.
