Pripyat Ferris Wheel - Chornobyl

Two miles from Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, in the town of Pripyat, behind the Palace of Culture/community entertainment complex 'Energetik,' the Soviet city planners built a small amusement park. Swings, a carousel, even bumper cars would be available for the towns growing young families. The highlight of the park was a large yellow ferris wheel, completely identical to all ferris wheels in the Soviet Union (there was only one wheel manufacturer, with only one design at the time) that towered over Energetic and was visible from the main street of Pripyat, as well as the sports stadium to the north.

Now it sits silent, the carriages sometimes eerily creaking as they rock slightly back and forth in the wind. It is amazing that it still stands, for now.

Revisiting some unedited shots from the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. It's nice having a library of video I can go back to and tinker with now and again.

Amazing. Out of interest, is your drone now a bit radioactive or is the amount tiny?
