CTLGroup Large Cable Tensile Test

CTLGroup’s transportation laboratory has many unique features, but did you know it is the only lab in North America that has the equipment and staff to test full-size sections of stay cables for ultimate fatigue and service life? In fact, our machine can be loaded up to 10 million lbs., with the largest cable CTLGroup has ever tested being 156 strands, the largest ever tested in the world.

We can perform full-size stay cable and tendon fatigue, tensile and watertightness tests in accordance with several international codes, such as PTI, FIB, CIP, AASHTO, JIS, and JT/T.

In addition to large cable tests, we also carry out mechanical (dynamic and static) testing of structural and bridge systems, as well as bridge components (bearings, expansion joints, and concrete substructures), etc.

For both new and existing bridges, CTLGroup offers a single source for material optimization, fatigue testing, service life modeling, troubleshooting, and forensic investigation.
