Snake People Calm Dangerous Anaconda Named SCAR

Those of you who know my work know that I believe that there are stories everywhere. Right around the corner. Right where you live.

These are clips from the film I made of Aaron and Brandyn who run PetShop Santa Cruz in my town. They love and they understand reptiles, and they have taught my family plenty about just how much personality and individuality a reptile can have.

I used to think they were "cold blooded", which meant to me that they had no emotions. Boy was I wrong.

Reptiles can be fascinating pets and some species are particularly well-suited for home environments.

Anacondas are large snakes found in South America. The most well-known species is the green anaconda which is considered one of the largest and heaviest snakes in the world.

Green anacondas can grow up to 30 feet in length, though the average is around 20 feet. They can weigh up to 550 pounds. They typically have an olive-green color with black blotches along their bodies, which provides excellent camouflage in their natural habitat. They are mostly found in swamps, marshes, and slow-moving streams, primarily in the Amazon and Orinoco basins. Anacondas are carnivorous and primarily prey on fish, birds, mammals, and other reptiles. They use constriction to subdue their prey, coiling around it and squeezing until the prey suffocates.

Anacondas are considered dangerous for several reasons:
Their massive size and strength allow them to overpower and constrict large prey, including potentially humans.

Unlike venomous snakes that use venom to immobilize their prey, anacondas use constriction. They wrap their muscular bodies around their prey and squeeze until the prey cannot breathe.

They are excellent swimmers and often lie in wait underwater, ambushing prey that comes to the water's edge to drink or swim.

Calming an anaconda is not typically advisable, especially for non-professionals, as they are wild and powerful animals. However ensure the anaconda is in a comfortable, familiar environment with appropriate temperature, humidity, and hiding places. Move slowly and calmly around the snake to avoid startling it. Sudden movements and loud noises can stress the animal. Ensure the snake is well-fed to reduce aggressive behavior related to hunger. Monitor the snake for signs of stress or aggression, such as hissing, striking, or coiling defensively. Respect these signs and give the snake space.

Reptiles can be intriguing due to their unique physiological traits and behaviors, such as shedding skin and hibernation cycles.

For individuals sensitive like my family to the fur and dander of more common pets like cats and dogs, reptiles can be a good alternative as they do not produce these allergens.
The vast variety of shapes, sizes, and colors found in reptiles appeals to many people who enjoy the beauty and uniqueness of these animals.

We have found that keeping reptiles can also foster a connection to the natural world and promote conservation awareness. For many, it provides a way to engage with a type of animal they may not typically encounter in their daily life.

Reptiles offer a different kind of companionship and pet ownership experience, which can be deeply enriching and satisfying for those interested in the natural world and animal behavior.

Some people simply have a way with animals. They don't see this creature as a threat, but as a fellow living being.

Poor Scar. Just so traumatized from poor care and an injury. As we learn more and more about animal conciousness and mental health, I feel more privileged that I was born human. It must be so hard trying ti communicate your needs and feelings through body language and maladaptive behaviors before someone can help you in the way you need. I really appreciate animal lovers who go above and beyond trying to understand the creatures of this earth so that we can better help them survive and thrive. They are our neighbors.

Sorry, although I'm against any type of animal neglect, or abuse; but I just do NOT get why anyone would want a snake, or a rodent of any kind for a pet. Personally, It's my opinion that the owners of snakes are seeking attention.
