I am 50 years old and my mother is 92. She is still with me and I’m glad she told me about all these legends. Nothing but class.

The craziest thing to me is that he wasn't even young in most of these dances! He was born in 1899 but he was still just as energetic, charismatic, and talented as someone in their early 20's. Love him!

Fred Astaire was born in 1899 so it's easy to see what age he was in the movies mentioned here. It's pretty amazing to see that for some of those movies he was in his early to mid 50s and was still had energetic moves. The youngest you see him here in this list is him in his mid 30s.

Fred's 'drunk tap dance on a bar' number from 'The Sky's The Limit' is one of my favorites. Every time I see him dancing...
his massive talent..charm...and unassuming
manner gets me hooked all over again.
We could certainly use a Fred Astaire today...thankfully we have his 31 films.

What a classy high energy performer. His foot work is astounding and always with perfection. He was always in sync with his eccentricities while dancing. What pleasure to see. What wonders . He could make the most complicated sketches seem so easy which makes him stand out from the rest.

Fun fact: the 'rotating room' was actually a cover-up for the fact that Astaire simply bent the law of gravity to his will through sheer awesomeness.

I watched Pick Yourself Up so many times and I'm still amazed esp with how Ginger dances. So graceful and love her little nuances with her dress which is part of the dance.

I love that Fred and Gene both gave credit to the Nicholas brothers for teaching them how to tap with grace and to make it look effortless.

My favorite dancer of all time. Wanted to dance with him just one time. My mother would just smile when I said that, not wanting to burst my bubble. Greatest dancer of all time.
