Numerous wildfires are burning in the Carolinas, including a fire near Myrtle Beach prompting the evacuation of residents in Carolina Forest in Horry County. Other fires are burning near Tryon, North Carolina and across the region.

Latest high-resolution ensemble guidance continues to suggest a large area of elevated to near-critical fire weather conditions in the lee of the Appalachians and across the Southeast this afternoon. A very dry airmass has settled across the region in the wake of a dry cold front, with current surface observations indicating dewpoints between 25-35F. Highs near 70F today will support several hours of critical minimum RH values near 20-30% amidst receptive fuels and breezy downslope west/southwesterly surface winds. At this time, the best overlap of stronger surface winds (sustained winds near 20 mph and wind gusts 20-30 mph) and critical fuels appears to be across portions of western North and South Carolina, where a Critical fire weather area has been introduced. The Elevated area was also expanded farther across portions of the Northeast, along the Appalachians, and across the Southeast.

The Carolina Weather Group operates a weekly talk show of the same name. Broadcasting each week from the Carolinas, the show is dedicated to covering weather, science, technology, and more with newsmakers from the field of atmospheric science. With co-hosts across both North Carolina and South Carolina, the show may closely feature both NC weather and SC weather, but the topics are universally enjoyable for any weather fan. Join us as we talk about weather, the environment, the atmosphere, space travel, and all the technology that makes it possible.

I find it really strange a fire breaks out right before we are expecting high winds

"Heavenly Father, we come before You today, humbly seeking Your protection and healing for our nation. In the face of fire, famine, sickness, earthquakes, and disease, we cry out to You, the Great Physician, to shield us from harm and bring restoration to our land.

We ask that You, the Almighty, extend Your loving hand to those suffering, providing comfort and strength in their time of need. Guide the hands of medical professionals, and grant them wisdom to combat these afflictions.

Lord, we pray for unity among our people, that we may come together in compassion and service to one another. May we find hope in Your promises, and may Your love be our guiding light through these challenging times.
Protect our homes, our families, and our communities from further devastation. We trust in Your power to heal and deliver, and we declare Your sovereignty over all things.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

I live in near Polk County. Please spread awareness. Wish everyone in the area could see this and know to be aware.

The emergency broadcast system needs to start making announcements about any fires in the area to ensure safety.

The most IMPORTANT question never seems to be answered, how did they start ? Conditions are irrelevant without some ignition source or sources. Why not use satellite imagery to find out?

We're planning our exit strategy here in Youngsville. If they block the roads and turn the water off. HERE'S YOUR RED FLAG. GOD, please protect the Carolinas

What is going on? Between fires everywhere and plane crashes galore, we may be witnessing something intentional.

Upstate S.C. ground is still wet. Try using a skid steer like I did Friday and you find out all this talk about grounds dry is pure BS

Coming home to Rutherfordton after a trip to Hendersonville yesterday, there was a fire in the woods on Hwy 74. It was just before the Buffalo ranch you can see from the hwy (if you know it, you know it, lol). I was thinking, "Oh great, this is just what we need after what the storm from Hurricane Helene's devastation she left us with." Fire trucks were just getting on scene on the hwy. Hopefully nothing gets crazy bcuz we can't take much more!!!

And the funniest thing of it all is I get the Fire Weather Warning come across my phone and an hour later someone I know working on yet another D.R. Horton project posts a picture of them lighting up all the brush they just cleared. I guess the rules don’t apply to them.

These are deliberate “burns.” People will not be able to afford to rebuild; NGOs and govt will be offering buyouts. They want this land.

It’s just so strange to me. Anyone who’s lived on this earth 50 or more years can remember a time that many of these areas either head no forest fires. Or only had fires in extreme drought or during the summertime. There were no such thing as tornadoes in December January
