The Glory of Liquid Snake

Liquid is one of the most beloved figures in the Metal Gear series, from him being a foil too Solid Snake too his pompous attitude, Liquid Snake has cemented his name in the history of games. He's even what Hideo Kojima considers too be the Ultimate Antagonist of Metal Gear proper. Which in part is what makes his final boss fight such a special thing.

I thought that the dominant/reccessive gene clones was stupid...

... until I remembered that Solidus is the baseline clone, meaning that they were trying to find out if the genes that created the best soldier are reccessive or dominant. And if neither were the case, it would mean that Solidus would prove that the soldier genes were a combination of them rather than a single set of them.

I always thought that Liquid being named Eli was a reference to Eliab, the brother of David, whom, despite having the same qualities as the previous king Saul, Samuel, under the orders from God, rejected the elder brother and anointed the younger brother as the next King of Israel.

Liquid may have been fighting for his genes but in the end everyone was a puppet on strings to their memes.

It's an utter shame mission 51 from MGSV was cut. If you watch the deleted content footage, for me, the big stand out was Pier Stubb's performance as Eli... a lot of it was dialogue was recycled from in MGS1 but it was well acted as a homage to Cam Clarke's Liquid and foreshadowing for who the young soldier would become. Criminally underrated.

I think liquid and solid are the definitive brother vs brother story. Some come close, like Vergil and Dante. But there’s something about their final fights that hit so much harder.

If Sons of Liberty ever gets a remake, it should include Snake’s side of the story.

So much of what happened during that game involving Snake and Liquid is pretty much one big black spot in the timeline.

The biggest problem with Liquid was his ego. He claimed to be the inferior one, and tried to beat his superior twin. And yet, he failed to realize that he WAS the superior one. The inferior defeated the superior. I bet he's screaming angrily in death about that blow to his ego.
