I driven through there many time before sat nav was invented- it was so stressful back then. The secret of driving in London now is to recognise that as a foreigner to that City you are in the majority, the etiquette of driving anywhere else in UK don’t work here, everyone is driving expecting everyone else to do something outrageous, just chill, double park, u turn, turn without indicating, never wave when someone lets you in, take on all the worse taxi driver habits of your home town and you will reach your destination totally unscathed

This reminds me how years ago, I saw on tv how potential London taxi drivers had to study to learn all the roads in London and mentally figure out the best route from any point A to point B. IIRC, people could get ulcers over passing the tests.
