Are Republicans Turning on Ukraine?

When the war in Ukraine began, support packages enjoyed near universal bipartisan support in the House and Senate. However that sentiment has waned over time, particularly among Republicans. So why is this? And will this consensus survive the midterms?

TLDR is all about getting you up to date with the news of today, without bias and without filter. We aim to give you the information you need, quickly and simply so that you can make your own decision.

TLDR is a completely independent & privately owned media company that's not afraid to tackle the issues we think are most important. The channel is run by just a small group of young people, with us hoping to pass on our enthusiasm for politics to other young people. We are primarily fan sourced with most of our funding coming from donations and ad revenue. No shady corporations, no one telling us what to say. We can't wait to grow further and help more people get informed. Help support us by subscribing, following, and backing us on Patreon. Thanks!

If Ukraine is an important issue for you, it’s possible to see if the politicians your voting for support Ukraine. In my district, a house Republican says he supports Ukraine but has voted against aid for them.

In my opinion, if the war just drags into a slog I can see Republicans really starting to argue against sending the same level of support we've been sending

Please please please keep the channel. I know it doesn't get the same amount of views as the others but America desperately needs independent journalism, please don't leave us with American mainstream media

Remember when Republicans used to be against sovijet russia and in support of defending yourself against tyranny? Reagan would be ashamed...

As an American, I don’t think that the US is obligated to protect Ukraine, but I definitely think we should. Ukraine is fighting what can only really be described as a righteous war for their country. They are fighting in defense of their country against an unprovoked invasion from an autocratic imperialistic power that has been slaughtering Ukrainian civilians. To not lend aid to Ukraine would be akin to approving of Russia’s actions.

As a American, I have no idea why we expect anything to happen super fast. Let this play itself out. Ukraine is essential, aid must not stop.

Aid to Ukraine is in no danger.
I think many people outside the USA don’t understand how things are working here.
It would take me way to long trying to explain it here, but the public support is like 72% and even if one or the other chamber would try to say no it would be overwritten by the other or at worst case vetoed by the current president.
There is also the lend lease act which just started and has been voted on and signed into law.
It’s up to the president and the Secretary of State to approve or deny of what to send into Ukraine.
So the material support for Ukraine basically has a blank check as is or what the president deems necessary.

It will survive the Midterms and the 30 Dems that sent that letter suffered significant backlash from voters.

Most everyone in the House and Senate is getting supplied with defense contractor cash. So it would make sense to keep the aid flowing at a bigger rate to ensure that the money keep flowing into their bank accounts, for both members of the House and Senate and the defense contractors.

Any negotiations done to appease Putin because the threat of using nuclear weapons will actually increase the risk of nuclear conflict in the future. You will demonstrate to countries that any aggressor with nuclear weapons can force a settlement by threatening to use them, so defenders must seek to obtain them to protect themselves. You will kickstart a new age of nuclear proliferation and it will massively increase the risk of a conflict leading to nuclear war.

Ted Cruz won’t even defend his own wife. What makes you think he’d defend freedom at home and abroad?

Only teeny tiny member's of REPUBLICAN party is against the AID, majority still support Ukraine despite what their fringe members say, Ukraine will be supported regardless who's in charge of the house and senate

“America should focus on America” would make sense if we actually did that. Improving healthcare is “socialism” and helping graduates with loans is seen as “unfair”.

Trump said Putin's strategy was genius. It doesn't mean it was moral. It was not an endorsement of the man. Context matters.

At this point, stopping is dumb. We've sunk too much into it

Seems like that the American military industrial complex needs to refill the pockets of some politicians to get them back on track and continue supplying Ukraine with weapons
