Talk's Peter Cardwell is joined by presenter Kevin O'Sullivan to discuss the release of journalist Evan Gershkovich from prison in Russia. After being detained for 491 days he was sentenced to 16 years but has been set free after a prisoner swap.

Kevin said Evan was a victim of "the joke of Russian justice" and was "a man doing his job, a journalist reporting in a fine and honest way.".

Is releasing Russian criminals in exchange for journalists the right thing to do?

Nice racket they've got going. Moscow sends its people out to do their dirty work, and if they get caught, the Kremlin just railroads some unlucky American rando and offers a "prisoner exchange."

The exchanges typically look like Russia is offering Old Kent Road in exchange for Park Lane, Mayfair, and all four Stations, but America usually takes it with a smile, sadly.

Russia has never managed the rule of law so if you go there, especially at this time, you are taking a risk
