If we can get $20 million pounds for Zinchenko have to remember by the summer he’ll have less than two years left in his contract and he’s not even first or second choice. It’s a great deal.

The return of Benny Blanco is massive and a huge boost going into this part of the season where the wheat gets separated from the chaff.

Tom,

I’m increasingly concerned that Arsenal’s business model is a step below recent UCL trophy winners Real, City, Bayern, Chelsea, Liverpool etc in terms of squad quality depth. Do you feel Arsenal were so far behind in squad quality that it takes 8 years to catch up?

Tom I don't see us making the signings we need no risk no reward

Let's be honest arsenal are going to sign some average forward for about 20 million on deadline day as a pr stunt. I like arteta but I think the people above him are just not serious.

A tad frustrating with no incomings yet but still a great show Tom.

While there's not much actual business going on Tom thought I'd just ask your thoughts on two midfielders I've had a look at recently and like the look of.

Richard Rios - 24 y/o Columbian midfielder that plays in Brazil at Palmeiras, is reportedly available for only 20m. Ticks a lot of boxes for me- Silky touch, scores bangers from distance and is press resistant. His background is he used to play futsal and only signed his first pro contract at 20 so is still very much tactically maturing in Brazil to the point where he's probably going to be looking to leave to develop in Europe in the next year or so. So much fun. Ball carrying and flair.

Franco Mastantuono - 17 y/o Argentine at River Plate, release clause that's reportedly recently been set at 45m. A left footer that operates largely in that right 10 half space that's seemingly already stacked at Arsenal for years to come, but he'd be an addition along or replacing as a sub any of the Saka, Odegaard and now Nwaneri triumvirate. He's a playmaking, clean passing, dribbling maestro. He's is everything Arsenal fans incorrectly talked themselves into thinking Fabio Vieira was, and for a seventeen year old is already so polished with closing in on 50+ games, again at 17. So much class that watching him at times is like farting through silk. Only only other prospect I've seen recently from Argentina that comes close is Nico Paz who's been progressing excellently at in Italy at Como under Cesc. And frankly who I'd take as well.

Speaking of Italy. Another guy I haven't seen enough of is Mandela Keita who's just moved from Belgium to Parma. Isn't as high of a ceiling as someone like Vermeeren (Again would take at Arsenal) but is a solid ball progressing six/eight that could play with or in place of any of Rice, Jorginho or Partey in theory. Think of a more dense Sambi Lokonga, with better tackling and take on and carry numbers. Plays at the base of a diamond for Parma, but could easily play as an inverted rb imo. MLS and him as a tandem would be tough to get past. He's 22. Debut was one of the weirdest out of nowhere games I've seen in a while, but since then has been okay/chaotic. Not an Arteta player, but not really suited to Italy either. Could see him popping up somewhere like Palace in a year or two and everyone falling in love with him as the Wharton replacement.
But of course none of these are going to happen anytime or god forbid soon. Just filling some time really.

If that doesn't take your fancy and you'd prefer things closer to home the Sky interview Mikel did was amongst the most informative thing I've seen from him this season. Dig your teeth into that Tom :)
He likes the be challenged as much as possible. Any many other things to take away from that piece.

There you go Tom. Enjoy the time off👍

Morning Tom and all.. we do have a lot of left backs, but we had a few right backs too back in August and now we are forced to play Partey there… we’d shouldn’t be weakening the squad in our current predicament COYG

All these young players that have left or look like leaving, I blame their agents for being greedy and thinking the grass is greener somewhere else. These agents make a lot more money if they can move players around. It's selfish. These young lads will listen to what their agents are promising them, then find out when they get to the other side that they'd have been better off staying with us.

I think Jurien looks a bit tired on the right. Ben White return would be greatly appreciated. The emergence of MLS has offsetted Calafiori"s injury problems.

Greetings Tom!
So a fairly standard January window then. 🙂

If we play like we did in the last two matches, Wolves won't be able to handle it and we'll take the win 2-0 or 3-0.

It's a pity that some youth contracts offered don't appear to be strong enough to retain talent, where from a business perspective, higher profit margins can be got if selling later as a way to better pocket on the initial investment 🤔

Ben White has been a hugely overlooked injury. Timber isn't quite at that level yet. Perhaps he's played too much since return. Warmer months can't come fast enough, I speak for us all lol
