I bought this book just recently hoping that it would give me a good grounding - and I have not been disappointed. Although I also had the basics of astrology I was looking for something to take me a bit further. It is a lovely book full of nice, logical information. A good starting point IMHO.

I started with this book also and found it excellent. If you do want to take your astrology learning deeper, can I suggest next On The Heavenly Spheres by Avelar and Rubeiro and the accompanying workbook. I am working my way through them myself, and the tasks set out in the workbook really are helping cement the knowledge that is given in the book.

I feel like a lot (not all) modern magic fell into the "do what you want whenever, its all about intent " type of thinking and astrology and timing gas been pushed aside, and when it is taken up its very natal astrology focused . Thankfully there seems to be a movement showing just how important it is to being a good practicing magician .

I own the Only Astrology Book you'll ever need. Read through it a few times and leaned how to draw my natal chart with it. I've read a few others not worth mentioning, but when I found Geomancy, it quite literally put astrology in my hand.

I highly recommend Stephen Forrest's The Inner Sky. I have been studying astrology for 50 tears now, and this book is first-rate.

Are you familiar with The Astrology Podcast? I've been watching them a lot lately and they have been helping me immensely in getting a grasp on astrology. It's hosted by Chris Brennan, who authored another book you might be interested in: Hellenistic Astrology the Study of Fate and Fortune.
