A Silent Night Surprise in Times Square | #LightTheWorld

 
The billboard takeover at Times Square in New York City was part of Light the World, an annual movement to bring people from all over the world together to share the light of Jesus Christ during the Christmas season. The beautiful nativity scene that emerged from the blackout was a tender reminder of the Savior’s birth and why we need His light and love in our lives.

I’ve been through Times Square literally thousands of times and it has never felt like that before. It was reverent. People stopped walking and looked up, performers turned off their music. It only lasted a few moments, but it was so special.

I'll never forget the beatbox dancers performing here at Time Square during this. The moment it went dark they looked up at the screens, stopping the music, and dancing, with one of them saying, "we need to stop for Jesus". A solid reminder of Christmas, with all the hustle, that we all need to stop for a moment, and remember the true meaning of the season, to "stop for Jesus", and breath. Forever grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ. For the birth and resurrection of the Savior of the world.

Raised in church, then strayed from God. Very recently, asked for salvation for sins committed. Hard time with emotions from past traumas. This presentation made me realize how much I love Jesus.And so grateful, to the true light of the world! Absolutely brought tears to my eyes.

I haven't been baptized yet (but I'm planning to in the future) for personal reasons but I was born, raised and have lived in NYC my entire life. It's really nice to see the Gospel, alongside the charity the Church does, reach my own city. It truely shows how this Church truly is global and the Gospel is for everyone. Hopefully this helps those in need, and even show people the truth about this Church through its fruits.

Words cannot describe the feelings. I was born in NY, lived there for the first 8years of my life and still have family who live there the busyness, the congestion, the loudness. All stopped while they all felt peace. So symbolic to start by turning off the lights first... Beautiful! 😍

This gave me chills. I watch or read the news and I get so sad and then I see what the church can do to bring the savior into others lives and I remember... its going to be ok, Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ got this!

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I am proud that the church designed this so amazingly and put it in Times Square in New York. I am touched every time I watch this, I love it and feel the spirit always. My everyone watching this display have a Merry Christmas! Let your light shine and Light the World!
