Correction #1: DC has TWO film set for 2020: Birds of Prey in February, then Wonder Woman 1984 in June.

Correction #2: Aquaman 2 was given a release date of December 2022 awhile ago. So now they have two films set for 2022.

Box office amounts do no determine importance. Superman is more important than Ant-man will ever be. People are invested in the MCU, not so much in the DCU. This plays a big factor in if the normies go to see a movie or not.
