Показать описание
I tested the EvenRealities G1 smart glasses and honestly, there is a lot about them that feels like the future, but there are also a few hiccups that need to be improved. Here is my full review.

So these are my newest smart glasses and they're actually pretty good. Of the dozens of smart glasses I tested, I have never seen any like this. Every now and then, you try a new piece of tech and say “wow, this is the future” or at least some part of this.
When I first saw these, I had so many questions like what can the displays show you? Can it see the outside world and act like iron man glasses? How do you control them? Can other people see what you see on the glasses? The list goes on and on.
So these are the Even Realities G1 glasses
Now I want to go over these in the list of questions I had when I first got them.
Questions:
What are these?
Small unsuspecting glasses
Small green micro LED display
Can adjust the distance
Oh, I almost forgot. Disclosure: NOT SPONSORED!!
Can other people see it?
Not really, but at the right angle, they can get a glimpse of the text
What about when it is off?
What do they do? There are really 7 things they can do
Dashboard
Notifications
Works well, easy to dismiss with touch bar
Easy to customize in the app. I only have messages and calls
Look up to see them, so they are less distracting
Navigation
On foot or cycling only - no driving
Cycling or scootering without the danger of lifting your wrist or opening your phone
More discrete when walking in a new city
Great if your hands are full
Shows turn by turn directions
Look up to see the whole map
Shows speed
Bright daylight can make this tricky - more on that later
Translate
Super cool implementation - look straight for translation, look up for original
Shows time, language, and three lines of translation
Sometimes it does not show the text on screen for long
Shows you the transcript on your phone screen
Need to open the app to engage with this
AI
Perplexity or ChatGPT
Teleprompter
I never really use this
Note taking & organization
Touch and hold right side for quick note
How do you control them?
Look up
Touch bar
Definitely can be finicky
Hair can interfere with capacitive touch bars
I touch with two fingers for more consistency
Do they have a microphone and speaker?
Can the display show images?
It is a 640 x 200 display in each eye with a 25 deg FOV
Claimed 100 nits and 20Hz refresh rate
Think of it as a TI84 calculator - you can read easily, and some icons or charts look great, but I wouldn’t expect too much detail. It feels right though
Can they see your surroundings or take photos?
Can you reply to notifications?
I don’t think so. At least not from what I was able to do
What if it’s bright out?
Can be prescription
Can get sunglasses cover
Blue filtering by default
Are they comfortable?
How long do they last?
Claimed 1.5 days - I easily get a day
I know josh vergara was telling me his last all day and he’s been using them for a couple months already
How do they charge?
Wireless charing
Easy to align in the case
Are they good?
The good
Display
Form factor
Versatility - prescription, sunglasses, blue light glasses. Different styles someday would be nice
Notifications without needing to take your phone out = nice!
Summary: they do very little but they do it really well
The bad
Connectivity issues - maybe my phone just shuts the app down too often though. Pixel loves doing that
Bluetooth 5.2 though, so not quite the latest but this should be good enough!
Sometimes annoying when you look up to drink water or something
The big question will be what can this do that a smartwatch or phone cannot?
MISSING
Find my glasses
Control options - you can really do very little with the controls
AI needs to be faster
Controls could be improved - both with speed and intuitive controlling
Hair can interfere with capacitive touch sensors - I think they are in a poor location
