As a reluctant UK "subject" of Queen Elizabeth II (not citizen + wannabe part of an independent Scotland) I would genuinely like to wish Harry and his fiancée all good wishes for the future.
I'm not THAT interested in tabloid culture - but neither am I a High Court judge - in that I know the difference between Gaza and Gazza, as well as Emmerdale and EastEnders. So, in the last year or so, in my tangential acquaintance with Ms Markle and Mr Windsor, the first time I was made aware that the bride-to-be's mother is black, was from watching the extended clip of this Monday's Daily Show.
Never been an "issue".
I have no interest - either way.
My point is that it has not played any significance in the "reporting" of the couple's relationship, which is as it should be.
I accept that far too many of UK institutions and populace are fundamentally racist but I still want to acknowledge progress when it happens.
