Here's something a little bit different today for the channel!
I'll be doing an unboxing and first impressions review of the new Apple Airpods Max vs the Sony WH-1000XM4 Noise cancelling headphones!
I use headphones quite a lot when I'm transcribing music and needed an upgrade so I thought I'd test out these two options to see which is better and whether the hefty price tag on the Apple Airpods Max is worth it.

For a heavy user who listens a lot of music and use them for long time
Airpod is way heavier than xm4
Airpod is way expensive than xm4
You can buy two xm4 with airpod price

The Sony app with its EQ can make those cans sound so much better. It’s better than the iOS native EQ and Spotify EQ.

Apple lost me at that hand bag style carrying case, and no folding capability. As a commuter, I can see myself destroying them within a month.

I've got the XM4 and I love them their so comfortable and last a long time on a single charge. And the sound on them is so good love them and the case is so good nice and hard

The fact that the AirPods max can’t be turned off unless they’re in the “bra case” is the biggest design oversight I’ve ever seen

Those recordings are bad not because those headphones have bad mics, but because they are connected via Bluetooth. When BT mic is enabled, both input and output’s sample rate drop significantly, and the sound output locks to mono due to bandwidth restriction. It’s part of the Bluetooth standard, so it happens with all BT headphones.

It doesn’t matter most of the time because you’ll only use BT audio with mic when you are making phone calls - which are significantly band-limited anyways, - but when recording something you could definitely tell they sound bad.

Can you compare the “spacial audio” and “ transparency” mode on the xm4?
