Gardena Impact Sprinkler - Best LAWN Sprinkler?

Just my views on the Gardena impact sprinkler. Picked this up from Costco a few weeks back.

You need to put the sprinkler on the corners of your lawn and set it to do a 90 degree sprays across your lawn. Put a empty tuna can down on your lawn and time how long it takes to fill by your sprinkler. If it is 30 mins then you then know that is then how long you need the sprinkler on. An empty tuna can is about an inch deep which is about the right amount of water your lawn needs at least twice a week. Try and position the sprinkler so you get even coverage, you might be able cover your lawn by just moving it from 2 corners.

Update on my post from yesterday. If you are using a 'stop-valve' or 'waterstop' type of connector, then try a normal flow one. I changed mine over this morning and it now works fine. Happy days. I can keep it now 😎 £31 from Costco or £45 from the thieves at Dobbins 👌

Got one yesterday and will be returned on Monday. I had the same problem as most others, it failed to return/oscillate. Got all the way right, then stuck. I used it then on the 360 degrees setting and after half an hour, it stopped spurting and just flopped some water out. Ooh err missus. I guess I`ve about 2 bar of water pressure and Gardena don`t say it won`t function with 2 bar. Just it won`t shoot as far. Shame it won`t work for me as it looks a good bit of kit.

I have exactly the same problem with my Gardena sprinkler worked for about 10 times now it doesn't rotate. Would NOT recommend. Shame you didn't have the answer to the rotation stopping. But good video. Any info on stopped rotation would be appreciated.

This is a year ago… but since you asked. Perhaps the fert was applied at a high rate to wet grass on a sunny day - caused scorch? Could give lines depending on which way the grass was leaning compared to the sun. If it was scorch then adding more fert to yellow areas just makes it worse. Double check the application rate, measure the garden, apply when soil is moist, grass is dry and temps are not too high. Water 1/2 inch if no rain in 24 hrs. I imagine it is fine by now? Soil test would be a good shout regardless.

1st comment, result! Hi ya to me it looks like fertiliser lines? 2nd dose of fertiliser will make the greener bits greener so probably just grow it out over time? I mentioned before I use westlands safelawn because it's organic and you don't get the lines or the fertiliser burn put it down in a cheap drop spreader on setting 4 and go up and down, left to right and boom! Other than the lines your doing well it up, spot on about watering, water deep not to often.

Could be down to pressure drop on lenght of hose.I reduced the lenght of hose and it works fine now

I really want to like this sprinkler but bought 2 and both couldn’t return. Rang Gardena Australia and doesn’t seem to be able to figure out either. What a shame.

On the first seconds on the video, the sprinkler it was leaking at the bottom. I do have a metal one, no impression is that it is working excellent comparing with branding ones, like Gardena, for which we pay more than it worths.

I wish you had said something about where to position the orange tabs and the little metal ring attached to the black plastic thing underneath. I've got no manual and am trying to work out what to do with them!

I had the same problem with my lawn... applied 4in1 and everything came to life I.e a lush, dark green lawn... but now I'm finding 4 weeks later, I'm starting to see yellow patches appearing even though I always cut it on a high setting..., ???

You did not show the detail of how to switch the oscilattor from one function to the other. From the full rotation to 'part rotation', this would have been helpful.
