I studied film and video at Plymouth Art many years ago, before the days of YouTube. Way back then going to film School was one of better options. These days there are far more opportunities to learn film/video without it. Also cost of good quality equipment has come down in price significantly. I'd still recommend it if you can, as apart from learning about film and video, you'll meet like minded people who'll become useful contacts in the future.

I'm too old to go to film school, besides, I don't want to commit that much money, when I can study techniques that Steve Wright lays out. Him, along with many others, teach everything we need to know. As far as making connections, this is just a hobby for me, so I'll consider my YouTube connections enough for now.
