note that can upgrade and downgrade if you want to come back exactly to the previous solution (even manually in case you crashed something) if you use the official batocera image. please note that some people are customizing via tools/images found on internet which break upgrades, or at least create bugs. people must know that custom images found on internet are filled with bugs, mainly about upgrades.

this is why I keep my games and settings on an external drive and run batocera on a flash drive. So far I have never had any issues going this route.

You wouldn't think an upgrade would cause so much havoc! Good strategy with having a separate later version for your lightgun games! I'm aware of the odd game not working with updated MAME for copyright reasons, which is an example of not everything is an upgrade.

I dont run Wii U or Switch on my set up, but I have read a lot of people having issues with Switch when updating to v36.
But as you said, Switch isnt officially supported by Batocera so you cant blame them for any stuff ups to switch emulation.
Wii U, I dont know, havent looked into it.
You can add Xenia too, but also not officially supported.
Edit: I had no issues with PS2 when updating to v35.
Is model 2 and Future Pinball working properly for people with v35?
I actually only added those when updating to v35 as using v35 on my test build on a diff PC they work, and on v36 beta builds.
But on my main PC for Batocera they dont.

Still stuck while playing switch with gtx 750 on batocera which is can run normally when I use Windows with yuzu or ryujinx

It took me forever to get version 34 working the way I like it and is working great. Last time I did an update 33 to 34 was a mess. ROMs disappeared, etc. I’m in no rush for 35.

btw, Ryujinx is on flathub, Cemu 2.0-14 has an appimage.

I am upgrading since v32. Never had problems. But I don't use any modding or custom addons. I've built my own copy.

Like you I ALWAYS keep a backup before testing new releases. Mine is possibly easier to manage as I "only" maintain a 250gb image that I built myself. But I have all roms and scraped info completely backed up as well as clean image too. That way tinkering is much easier. 😉 That said, I've ended up sticking so far with v32 on my little PC as newer releases have seen much poorer N64 performance sadly. Not Batocera's fault though.

I updated from 34 to 35 and had nothing but problems.

Not always loading up and just black screen, and when it did loadup any changes I made were changed back to the default settings.
Gone back to 34.

I have had no issue updating or fresh install. I have one at my house that I've updated and found no issues. Wii-u, Switch works great. I bought another PC for the office with the same specs and put a fresh install, Switch with issues but Batocera Nation had a tutorial to fix it.

Hello is there any howto for an 100% backup for Batocera (english or german)? How did you do that? I did a complete Macrium Backup with Free Edition but this restore Linux backup did'nt boot 😵‍💫 updated V31 to V35 and black screen. Ohh Noo he's dead Jim... 🙈

How can we setup batocera on the hardrive instead of USB which is limited on space ? Can you explain or make a setup video on batocera on hard drive???? That would be
