What I can learn from this is: Don't just sit at your desk and wait for the client to come; actively look for the client.

Honest talk and one of the peaceful to watch videos; no crazy transitions and cringe swoosh sound effects.

I really like the way you explain your process and you don't talk 7 miles a second. Keep making videos! It will come i can already see it

I just graduated a bootcamp and became a father. I live in a small town, and this is exactly what I needed to knock off the worry and just go for it. Thank you.

I’m in the same boat. Got let go from my agency, things are tight, I’m not making my cushy salary anymore.

I have been doing one pagers and small sites for local businesses and 12 month marketing contracts and dynamically generated landing pages for local areas matched to keywords. The marketing is necessary because it stacks and provides work and income in between design and build contracts and is easily outsourced if it ever needs to be.

First, I love your content. I've been on this 'tech' journey for a few years now. I'm 52, and I've been stuck tutorial hell a few times. I'm not giving up and that is in large part because of your honesty and transparency about this field. Sharing your thoughts and ideas is so helpful. You are the real deal. You're genuinely trying to help people and that is rare. Just wanted to give you some feedback on the channel and to let you know you're keeping me inspired to not give up on this because it IS possible. Also, I hope things are looking up for you in your job search! Thanks so much and please keep the content coming!

This is the 1st video from your channel that I watch. SPOT ON!!

I am not where you're at but am studying HTML5. I know you are speaking honestly because I've been following a Canadian & veteran web developer for seversl years now who mentors & what you are doing here in this video is exactky what he says to do in order to get a credible pirtfolio on a roll. He does suggest to find 3 local small biz owners like you search for and to offer to make their website for free. But then you start building your business just like you ecplain here.

THANK YOU!!!!

I really love this video that you gained a new subscriber, mainly cause you're not like other youtubers you're really going straight to the point and I didn't feel my time wasted. More than that is the value that I gained from these 4 minutes and I feel like it can be life-changing for many people that struggle to find clients. Thanks a lot and please keep it up!

Yep, I spent 7 months looking for this job I currently have. I had to work remote as I liver far from any urban centers otherwise I could have found a job really quickly. I've been in the industry for 10 years. Tough market out there!

Pretty crazy I just came across your video. I got interested in the tech industry about 3 years ago and the first thing I did was build a silly static website. I started learning on free code academy and the Odin Project, but dropped it after going for more Operations side of IT. But lately I’ve been really wanting to freelance website builds. I’ve already created a list of all the companies I’m going to target as they either have no website or a super outdated website. I’ve started back up on the Odin Project and am super excited to start trying this idea out!

Hey thanks so much for posting. I’m also a dad with a family to provide. I’m trying to break into web dev and I’ve been wondering how to gain experience while waiting for applications to go through. Thank you for sharing your ideas. It’s good to know that there are others who are in a similar spot like me.
