Stop Using Pie Charts

Pie charts have always been popular but they're rarely the best way to visualize data.

We can tell that this chart isn't exactly evenly split but it looks fairly close until we visualize it in a column graph.

Both charts use the exact same values for A, B, and C. However, on this bar chart you can clearly see that each item is a different value and how they compare to each other. ⁠

The primary goal of any data visualization is clear communication. Making it highly stylized is optional, but always secondary. ⁠

Percentages/ numbers can be assigned to the slice(s) of said pie chart to avoid guesstimates/ assumptions.

The problem is, the parts dont look similar imo, you can also write the percentages on the labels, and pie chart gives a message that the data is strictly comprehensive (the data there adds up to 100% exactly, we dont have that insight in bar charts)
