Recently purchased a Penn Clash II in 2500 and 4000 sizes. Really nice reels! As are the reels in this list...Penn has really stepped their game up over the last few years with their new spinning reel models and improved older models...

Pflueger reels, Shimano, Abu Garcia, Lews are all in my top list for fresh water for Bass or what ever, but had to say Pflueger beats them all as far as durability and a long lasting reel, there reels feel the same years after you use it on a regular basis, Buy every single model has water proof issues, I wish all these manufacturers solve this problem !!! I’f you put your rods on deck on a bass boat the odds of them getting soaked is just going to happen,

And hopefully When you are out on the boat you don't hear your son say " DAD YOUR ROD" only to look over the side of the boat and see your new rod and reel sink towards the bottom .. True story, ,, the next day i went back to Gander Mtn to buy the same reel again ..There was a Gander employee near by as i looked at the reels i told my sad story to her, turns out she was the store manager and from hearing my story gave me ten dollars off the same reel ..I thought that was really nice..
(that gander mtn has since been replaced with sportsmans warehouse)
