I named my second daughter Laura (nothing to do with the show). She was born, and died, on 10-30-78. One day, while going to visit her grave, this song came on the radio. I had to drive through tears as I was pulling into the cemetery. It does give me some comfort, as it allows me to grieve in my own way for my little Laura.

Fun Fact: My brother-in-law got married in 2001, and his bride's family were neighbors (in a Los Angles suburb) with Christopher Cross. Christopher was kind enough to allow my brother-in-law and his new wife the use of his home and backyard for their reception. Unfortunately for everyone, Christopher was on tour and wasn't able to attend, but it sure was a beautiful place to have a reception. If Mr. Cross ever happens to read this, I just want to thank him for his wonderful hospitality. -Pat

When I hear this song I think of my mother that passed away in 2017 from a deadly brain tumor. She tried Chemo and Radiation after the surgery but she lot her battle 4 months after her surgery. This song allows me to grieve so heavily and cry my eyes out for sometimes and hour or 2 getting my grief out of my system. My mom was only 76 years old when she passed. I know she's happy where she's at but it still hurts so much when that one person that raised you is now gone. Not from my heart but from this earth and not here with us. My father passed away when he was 28 years old from bone and blood cancer. She had to raise us herself. She was the whole purpose for my life and it is a struggle everyday for me; But at least songs like this let me grieve for her, because now that is all I can do.

I was absolutely hooked on General Hospital & the story of Luke & Laura. I was young & living the very tame & mundane suburban life of a newly married soon to be Mom. Luke & Laura’s adventures were the highlight of my day. While they ran for their lives, I escaped from mine by watching them, even if only for an hour 5 days a week. I loved the song “Think of Laura” & I never knew until today that it wasn’t written for General Hospital & Laura Spencer.

Loved this song for decades, just finding out about it’s real meaning. What a heart breaking story, but very classy of Mr. Cross to honor her with this gorgeous tribute.

I remember hearing this song when i was 9 watching General Hospital with my grandmother. I can't believe its been 40 years already. I remember it all like it was yesterday. I researched the song several years ago and found out who it was for. Either way, its a beautiful song.

I always think of my mom, her name was Laura. Love you, mom, miss you. ❤️ And thank you Christopher Cross, for all of your beautiful songs.

Sadly, Laura Carter was the only child of her parents--although, she inherited a couple of step-siblings through her father's second marriage. Her parents died a few years ago and are buried close to their daughter.

Christopher Cross actually had the family of Laura at a concert I saw at turning Stone Casino a few years ago. He actually told the whole story behind the song there

I went to a Christopher Cross concert in Florence SC a few years ago. He told the audience the story behind this beautiful song. If you've never been to one of his concerts I highly recommend you go. You won't be disappointed.

How terribly sad! I’m really glad Christopher was able to write that touching song in her memory! When you think of Laura, laugh, don’t cry, I know she’d want it that way!

We just saw Christopher Cross 2 years ago in Michigan. He still is the same as he ever was. Great show, and his backing band was the same one he has had for quite awhile. And he told the story about Laura, without telling how she died. Truly a tragedy to lose such a vibrant young woman like that.

Thanks for the real story. Love the song, never thought it had been written for GH, though I loved when they played it! Glad to know the truth!

Luke and Laura's wedding was one of the highest rated shows out there.
Heck, I was in the Air Force on mid shift and we all got up just to watch it.

I must confess...I would rush home from high school to see what would happen to Luke & Laura. I had no idea it was written for anything other than the show. In fact, everytime I hear it, I think of the beauty Genie Francis and how weird it was, that I got sucked into a soap opera, so badly....then I just smile. 😊
