Ever since they butchered Club Penguin to basically just be a Disney Advertising medium before shutting it down, I don't think much good will come of this on Fortnite's end.

There’s something so humbling about one of the largest things ever starting to collapse under its own hubris.

disney might genuinely own the world in a few years

Disney didn’t technically buy Fortnite since they would have to acquire Epic Games, but they bought like a share of it giving decision making power

Don't panic, it's like 1/30th of epic's value. What you should panic about is tencent has owned almost one half of epic for years now, and tencent is known for making mobile garbage games that abuse microtransactions.

The house of mouse just can't keep it's greedy little paws off of everything... They gonna buy the air we breathe next?

Just so you guys know, Disney did not actually buy Epic Games outright. They just bought a large share into the company, meaning that they will have increased influence onepic in the future, but they do not own them

I hope this doesn't end the same way that club penguin ended.

1.5 billion is only a 5% stake in Epic. All this does is make it easier for Epic to get IP rights for skins.
Based on the advertisement, they're probably mixing elements from Fortnite Creative and Disney Infinity together. It will fail terribly because the playerbase only cares about battle royale and not the cinematic experience Disney wants to promote. I plan on ignoring this until Disney comes to terms with reality by giving Elsa a shotgun

I’m more concerned with anytime Disney gets involved with games, but I know they won’t be able to try anything truly drastic. What a lot of people don’t know is that Disney hates making video games. They tried, and they were so bad at it they just closed their game studio. So this may just be them trying to make a quick buck off their IPs rather than to do something “innovative.”

Titles misinformation: they only own 10% of epic, not the entirety

Last I checked, the last time disney tried to venture into the gaming space, it failed miserably.

I would know as someone whose played all the disney infinity games, and those three were a collective disaster for them

I guess disney heard the old saying “if it ain’t broke, fix it until it is” and decided to live by it

i need to note that they haven't completely taken over epic yet, they only took 10% of it with this investment. while this is a decent amount, this doesn't mean they have control over epic. hopefully this investment just stays as a really big collab and not a step to take control

As an avid Fortnite fan, who has loads of nostalgia with the early game, I'm very worried.
Can we plase go back to 2020?
