As someone who lived in Okinawa, Japan and currently lives in North America (Specifically SoCal), I can back this claim up.

Japan's Elite Smash players are so much better than here in America, it's insane, and I think it taught me that I'm truly not built to be a competitive player lol

I play on Japan servers from China on the daily now.
Elite is like competing in high level brackets.
Anything below elite is still better than elite in other regions.

You think America is bad, you should try it in the UK. I'm not even good and I can do challenges like "Incineroar side-B only" and "Blindfolded Belmonts" in elite Smash lol

I think moreso than the notion that Japanese players are just better than American players, this has more to do with player population size. There are WAY more people playing smash in America than there are in Japan, and getting to elite smash isn’t exactly difficult, so on US servers you have a drastically larger sample size which means you’re far more likely to run into scrubs and casuals than you are competent, smart players.

Just like eu american player count a lot on combos but rage and hate neutral i main corrin i go sometimes on elite smash in Eu Server (im french) you would be suprised how many people i make rage quit because instead of counting on lag and spamming combo starter im bating people and space a lot sometimes i fought good player but most of the time i fight some disturbing player and usually the match end up with a rage quit or me tilting because i hate losing when im playing optimaly against a masher yes skill issue

I agree, I have played through vpn, in non-elite smash scenario, most american only care about combo and spamming combo starters, not much spacing, with tons of american air-dodge and acted poorly under disadvantage ;
In japan, they do care about neutral games and spacing, sometimes too careful to start the first strike and miss many opportunities to punish, let you feel campy and lack of interactions.

He should try play smashmate in japan. He will run into top player everytime if his raid score is high enough. 😂
