Bill Peet was one of the greatest Disney story artists of all time, and yet, he decided to leave Disney to tell his own stories. Today I talk why it makes sense to be Bill Peet and why you may want to make him your role model.

Idk why he isn't more known. I learned about him, our 3rd grade teacher taught us everything to know about him there was.

I went to Barnhart school in Arcadia California. Bill Peet’s grandson was in my kindergarten class.
That’s why I’m watching I want to tell someone who’d be excited

Very powerful message. Awesome video man 😄. I never worked at Disney, but I got a taste of the industry in my animation and film course. I found group work to be so frustrating...Don't get me wrong, I'm open to working as a team, but I cannot say the same for the group I was in...It's like you plan on making a chocolate bar, then someone pipes up and says "...Well wait a minute! What if the bar wasn't chocolate at all! But was made of shit instead!?" Then someone else gets the confidence to suggest their stupid idea "What if it wasn't just a bar made of shit, but it had worms in it as well!?" Halfway through making it, they realise their idea is aimed at no one and everyone they thought was their target demographic is left with a bad taste in their mouth...Anyway, you get the point 😄 hope this gave you a laugh.

THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE! But that won't stop me from trying. Bill Peet changed my life. Thanks, Brandon!

There is nothing quite like the pride you take on seeing your own creative work realized.

Speaking of animation, there's a really good cgi movie on Netflix called Mune:The Guardian of the Moon. The cgi looks amazing, like from 2017, even though it was made in 2014. And I LOVE the animation, character designs, soundtrack, colors, story, basically everything. People who read this, watch it if you can!

Whingdingdilly was the greatest children's book ever! I wanted to draw like Bill Peet as a kid and work for Disney. I eventually gave up on that goal and became a zoo keeper instead. I like to think the Whingdingdilly and Bill Peet was the reason why...RIP Bill Peet.

Well put. Nice monster. Thanks for the inspiration. It really does make one look at oneself and see exactly the dream that awaits. And then also to see what actions have or haven’t been taken. We always need inspiration.

Hi Brandon, great video! One of my students sent this to me! Thanks for sharing your experiences and stories. I encountered many of the same things when I was working full-time in animation & film. My most negative experience was a completely fake portfolio review from Disney Feature Animation. Two of my buddies were working there at the time, and they told me that many of the portfolio review crews and process notes are counter intuitive and actually prevent new and hard working talent from getting in because of the politics. I would love to hear your thoughts on Art I have a hand full of students that want to go to Cal Arts, and I don't understand why? I know why, but the cost, and fact they don't transfer anything over really makes it look a scam at 200k . At least at Art Center you can transfer in as a junior and get a almost 50% scholarship if you have a good portfolio. Would love to hear your thoughts on that. take care, Phil

This really resonates with me and I will surely remember to re-watch this whenever I am in the "nobody cares about my comics, why am I even doing this?" mood :)

Also, what's the music you use in your videos? It's really relaxing and enjoyable to listen to.

I think that Bill and Walt respected eatch other but they had the same personalty and they were both headstrong men but Bill Peet was the only story animator who got almost total independence from Walt
