Purchasing prescription glasses can be a challenge and often confusing when you do not know all the lens options. In this video, I walk you through different anti reflective coatings on glasses (such as anti reflective coating glasses vs blue light glasses), as well as showing different glare coatings and the pros and cons of each.

If possible, it is always best to consult your local optician or glasses shop for more information and details about what is best for you and your glasses prescription.

Some of us have been wearing glasses since we were children (over 50 years) and STILL have no idea what these terms mean WRT our glasses. Never assume…

I just got new glasses. My lenses have the crizal rock anti reflective. They are by far the best thing to put on your lenses. Not only are they the best for reflections. They're super scratch resistant. Finger print resistant. water resistant . And they're insanely easy to clean

Most optometrist shops never explain the differences between all these coatings, they just automatically recommend the most expensive coating, which make me suspect that they are just upselling but there is really no difference.

Didn’t know about all this diversity in anti-reflective options! Thank you!! ♥️

I didn’t even know there was a choice in anti-reflective lenses at all! This was great information!!!

I previously heard you mention the Crizal Sapphire coatings. I spent a small fortune on them and they were the absolute worst coatings I ever had. After a few months, it looked like I had scratched the lenses with sandpaper. That was just the coating peeling off. My local optical shop honored the warranty except I had to pay $25 for shipped to and from and wait about 3 weeks. The same thing happened about 10 months later. No warranty for the second failure. Since then I have had great luck with standard coatings and lenses from Costco and from Zenni.

Fortunately when I bought my first pair of glasses (at age 30) the seller ordered the anti reflective lenses without asking. Even before this video I didn't know there are more types of anti reflective lenses. Mine are the greenish ones (I guess they are cheaper) but I was never proposed another type. Thanks for the video, so much new information!

This is very, very helpful. I have learned more from this video than I have from speaking to 3 different opticians. Terrific!!

Excellent info! If only I had this understanding before I recently purchased my glasses … 😳

I've needed glasses for almost 50 years, and walking into an optical shop has always had a feel of playing Bingo -- I never knew if I was going to win, or win what, or when was my number ever going to come up, or even -- what is my number? What I love most about your videos is that now I can walk into an optical shop and let them know exactly what I'm looking for! Fit? yup. Coatings? yup. THANKS!!!!

I am an artist/graphic designer. I have been wearing glasses for 50 years. I have only worn anti-glare for the last 2 pairs of glasses.
I honestly am happiest with NO anti-glare coating (and I have high performance lenses)

Best (maybe only??) explanation I've seen about these coatings/buyups.

actually for blue light filter lenses, they have new technology to make the lenses absorb the light instead of reflecting it via coating, so we would no longer experience the weird purple light appearing a lot when wearing these. Essilor BlueUV Capture & Zeiss Blueguard are those best candidates.

Thanks so much for the lecture including the blue light info! Gets very confusing figuring out the best needs for me as a videographer and editor. Using sapphire blue light filters currently and I kind of don’t like the yellow tint I see the world with. Also relatively expensive

Glad i checked this video out. I just got all the upgrades for the first time, and was concerned about how these glasses looked different. I am glad i chose to get all the stuff this time around, im not very good about taking care of my glasses so having the anti scratch, smudge, etc is worth it. Thanks!
