E46 5 Speed Clutch Kit in 6 Speed Transmission!

did my first cluch job on my 2003 525i 5 speed, ended up putting the clutch on backwards and when to start the engine and the guide sleeve instantly welded itself to the clutch. it took 4 5 foot crowbars to bust the newly welded piece of trans and clutch back out. Safe to say I will never ever make that mistake again.

Thanks for posting dude. I enjoy it. I got a 99 323i blk 5 speed. Stock drive tran for now. Blk on blk slow as fuck but got 10k in suspension & wheels and reinforcement parts. Haven't done any drive tran yet. And watching your videos is very helpful in picking a direction. Originally was going to ls swap it 5 years ago. Still haven't. Kinda want to say bmw stuff. U da man!

I have a clutchmasters twin 850fx. It was originally bought for a zf/ 330 coupe. Swapping to a 420g out of a m3, the 420 has 35mm x10 splines. The zf320 has 29mm by 10 spline. Clutchmasters sold me just the floater disc and 420 /35mm spline discs. Im about to find out if the throw out bearings sit in the sane place on the pressure plate fingers 🤞.

* Important note, The dual mass factory flywheel uses longer bolts into the crank than a single mass. Auto uses different length as well. Make sure you get shorter bolts if you swap to single mass. They are one time use either way. The vay this video looks, he reuses the bolts. However they should have used the same bolts if they were bolth single mass. (Shorter ones) *Adreesed late in video *. Fcp sells shorter "single mass " fly wheel bolts fwiw.

I have done this before but I had a bearing adapter custom machined and it fits the smaller 6speed rollerbearing instead, still works fine.

You can get a full 6 speed clutch kit from clutch max with the 6 puck for $400. Its actually cheaper than the 5 speed equivalent, I did my 6 speed swap a few months ago so I have actually had both clutches lol.

How are you using a non spring type clutch disc with a single mass flywheel?

Where did you get just the clutch disk? I have the eBay 5 speed for my e39 and I have a 6 speed sitting in the garage from a previous car. I’d like to put the 6 speed in it. Oddly enough, I bought an e39 bumper from you a couple years ago. Small world 😂

So is it a 5 speed clutch kit with 6 speed clutch? The ZF5 is 15 spline and ZF6 is 23 spline.
