This guy was a sgt. and doesn't know the law. You are correct, why come up and  give permission for something that is already lawful? Then gets on his phone and acts like a big dumb ass to find out he has no authority to do anything. Take his stripes.

You can tell they get so frustrated when they have to come to terms with the fact that their authority over people obeying the law is essentially the same as any other civilian. That's why so many of them throw in that same "If you trespass I can arrest you" line; to feel like they've regained some kind of upper-hand in the interaction.

This is exactly where all modern day problems with law enforcement stems from. This attitude they have that makes them believe they are more superior than a law abiding citizen! His barking orders at any citizen that is not or has not committed a crime is unlawful. His stating that the Police station is his and he can trespass you from it is again unlawful. They wonder why no one respects them anymore? Good Audit as always fella's. Stay safe!
