With its 617hp twin-turbo V8, ZF 8 speed, and all-wheel-drive, the F90 M5 Competition is a rocketship with 5 seats. But it is still the Ultimate Driving Machine?

LOL... You all have no clue... As an F90 owner as well I can tell you this car handles INSANE. I live and grew up in Big Sur, CA. I have destroyed every BMW I have raced down the coast. M3's/M4's He is NOT driving this car correctly. I don't know why he's saying its not confidence inspiring... Its almost makes you too confident! The best part of my day is leaving work and taking super tight turning 35mph onramp at 90 mph! Doesn't even budge. I will never get ride of my F90. Every time I drive it I swear to god at some point during the drive I say out loud "Fuck I love this car"

The F80 LCI and F87 LCI are my two favorite cars from this generation. Great daily drivers that don’t make you forget what they are.

would like to see you drive a LCI model when you can! doubt it'll feel like true drivers car but they made changes as you noted. to be honest i dont think any of these big sedans/wagons are drivers cars except maybe CT5V Blackwing.

Everything said about the dynamics of driving in corners, numb steering, and too stiff of a suspension described the same exact feeling i have about my M240i xdrive!!😂

Nice review man. Agree- disappointing how forgettable and unrewarding this car is. Keep up the good work almost at 50k subs well deserved!

This car is not made for taking terms. It’s a luxury car that’s on a straight line. That’s what it’s made for.

You buy an F90 to be an “Autobahn” highway king. You buy a G80 if you want to rip corners on a canyon road. Two totally different purposes, Bud.

This and the current m3 will be a bargain, only question is the m5 engine reliability

Despite what people assume the F90 is not a track car, the CS is track focused

I’d be curious to get your option, Zygrene, and others: would you choose this F90 M5 or a G80 xDrive model as your only car?

These are two I am considering. I’ve driven the G80. Loved it, but haven’t driven the F90

I'd spend my money restoring a clapped out E39 M5 before buying this land yacht.

Drove one last summer. Didn’t really drive it in the twisties, but man was it ballistic in a straight line. And playful. My friend, the owner, could get it sideways in a traffic circle.

CT5 BW rides WAY better, is much more composed over mid corner bumps, has better steering feel and communication, and absolute handling limits, control, stability precision are all better. literally the only reasons to pick an M5 over the BW are AWD, the badge, and the interior.

The F90 has been on my shortlist for about 2 years and my wife surprised me when we went on a trip to Vegas earlier this year, with an F90 m5 rental. I was very excited as I would have the car for 5 days. Long story short I agree with Zygrene. It only took two days of driving for me to realize that I could not live with this car day to day. The ride was horrendous in normal driving. When in the winding sections outside of Vegas, it was better. I too noticed the lack of connectivity between my senses and what the car was doing or what was going to happen. Now this would probably change if I owned the car as I would have more time to train my brain on what would happen in certain situations and conditions. The speed is addictive, the sounds from the MPerformance exhaust were intoxicating, but the handling around town was so jarring that I was actually annoyed for the last two days. There was one other issue with the F90 and that was the trunk space. It appears decent size until you decide to put anything in there and you suddenly realize the center floor of the trunk is oddly shaped and that continues up the sides. Packing in a large suitcase, medium suitcase, two backpacks, and a Nuna stroller was simply not possible. We had to put the medium suitcase and backpacks (plus random groceries) in the back seat with the baby. This told me that this was not a four person road trip car. I currently own a 2011 Cayenne Turbo, which may make me spoiled in the handling department due to the fact that my Cayenne has PASM. I was very shocked of my experience with the F90 M5. Sacrificing some power and speed for more comfort in a large sedan is what I am leaning toward now. E63S or an Audi S6. Great review!

I know you do most of your reviews on Angeles crest, but can you share the exact spot? Haven’t been able to find it lol

As an F90 owner how can you drive a car for a review and talk about it like an expert, all you guys on here dogging this car are guys that can't afford one and will never drive one.

Fenton i think you would get a lot of enjoyment out of the right model year GS-F. These big boats can be quite a blast when the package is just right

Won’t be the worst for long because BMW really outdid themselves with the new generation🥳

I like the RS6 and E63s of this gen so much more than the F90. The CS is a different story though.

You'll have to live with this car for a bit to understand its character. Every time drive mine I have a silly grin :DDD
