For anyone that wishes to know more about this piece: it is called Sonata per Armandolino, by Giovanni Battista Sammartini. The score was published first in the book The Early Mandolin (by James Tyler & Paul Sparks, 1992), on pages 73-78. The original piece was written for mandolino and an unspecific bass intrument.

Wow, that was delightful. The range of the instruments in this duo is nuts! Great dynamics! Well done to you both.

I love the contrast between the low bass of the theorbo and the higher notes of the mandolino! They work together so well! I especially like the bit at 0:48

Since I was a child, I have savored watching people do what they do well -- and my own pleasure is heightened when those "doers" are obviously enjoying their skills.

I wonder how new music genres would sound using some if these tones. I like the classical use but I always think that instruments are made to be used. How we use them really depends on when and where we live. Its always evolving. However a fusion of past and present would be interesting for sure

That mandolin thing has a high tuning knob to mass ratio

That was amazing! What’s the name of this piece? I understand from the description it’s by Sammartini but I would love to know the full name!

This is the first time I see mandolin played finger-style. 🤣 Also I have never seen a six 2-course strung mandolin. Is it tuned like a guitar?

So Tony Stark faked his death in Avengers Endgames and started a new career as a mandolin player... i see. Jokes aside, you both played wonderfully!

Will we get a full video introducing the mandolino?
