‘If the president is so confident in his case, then why won’t he present it?’ — Sen. Chuck Schumer blasted GOP efforts to ‘rush’ and hide the Trump impeachment trial with McConnell’s unconventional rules.

In US news and current events today, during the impeachment trial of U.S. President Donald Trump, Senator Democratic leader Chuck Schumer blasted GOP Senator Mitch McConnell for proposed rules during the trial that would 'rush' the trial past the American people.

Listen to Schumer's call out of McConnell in this impassioned speech during the impeachment trial.

Pres. Trump’s impeachment trial has finally begun. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is pushing for a speedy trial, giving just two days for oral arguments from House impeachment managers and Trump’s legal team. His proposed rules also wouldn’t allow for votes on calling new witnesses until after the arguments have been made. Democrats have blasted this proposed timeline, claiming that McConnell is trying to bury evidence against Trump. Rep. Adam Schiff, one of the impeachment managers, said McConnell’s timeline would lead to a ‘rigged’ trial.

Let us hope then that the world is wise enough to learn the lesson of America’s strange, weird, self-inflicted collapse of its democracy. A society rises towards modernity, towards civilization, towards progress together, or we, as a whole, don’t rise at all.

So what's so good about America when fascism has reached all the way to the senate leader and president?

The GOP has a choice. Do as Trump wants, and keep your political career, but go down in history as someone who refused to stand up for the law and the constitution. Or, you go against Trump, and you lose your political career but, at least then, you can say, "I stood up for the law and the constitution."

"Power Corrupts." As the saying goes.

Hey, democrats. If you didn't vote in 2016, shame on you. Do the rest of the world a favor, get off your privileged butts in 2020 and VOTE the "Hamberder in Cheif" outta there! Yes, I said it - privileged. Voting is compulsory in some countries. Voting is banned in some countries. Voting is thus a PRIVILEGE. To NOT VOTE then complain about the state of your nation is pure idiocy.

Dear NowThis News: Would you please do a segment on "Who is Grover Norquist"? I think you might find it interesting to shed a little light on a person who is working diligently to reduce the size of the U.S. Government to a size "small enough to be drowned in a bathtub". He also had various GOP members take an oath to HIM. What oath was THAT? Does that abrogate their oath of office and their oath to protect the Constitution?

Didn’t the Democrats rush the inquiry in the house? It only took 3 months when it should take years. Especially when the issue was as partisan as it was.
