Meinl Cymbals - Thomas Lang - 21' Byzance Flex Ride

Balancing perfectly between wash and ping, it never veers into excessive wash territory. Its high-pitched, crisp bell features an underlying fundamental low frequency that supports its distinctive ping sound. The bow of this cymbal offers a traditional ping with a beautifully balanced wash, while striking it at the edge unleashes a massive, sonically intense crash sound. – Thomas Lang

The comments are crazy lol. I love the bell! The bell and ping sound great. The Septicflesh drummer just picked this as the new ride he is using too. I need a new ride. I might get this 🔥

I've seen a mix of different responses in the comments. I am not the ambassador of cymbals, but I just wanted to clarify this is a signature piece, and by clicking on this video you must realize what you are hearing may not reflect your preferred sound or what you are used to so try to be mindful about the fact if you don't like the cymbal that doesn't make it bad😅

You can play jazz on it... Yeah.. well.. you :) Very heavy for my taste, but congrats on the cymbal to a Mr. Lang. You have awe-inspiring technique!

you "can" play jazz on this, but you won't hear the other players

hard to believe, that it took years to develope...it's basically just a very heavy, quite one dimensional sounding rock ride, kinda like a 21 version of the 22 heavy hammered ride. Not saying it's bad by any means but with that kind of sound, it doesn't seem like you would need a custom made signature ride to get the job done.

As an "everything but the ride" Meinl cymbal guy, I've yet to hear a ride with a bell that can replace my Zildjian A custom ride cymbal

Congrats on the signature ride to Lang, I'm sure it fits his style perfectly. But it sounds kinda dead when riding, like it's really difficult to work up any wash and warmth and that's wild considering how heavy a hitter Lang is. I think that's a shame since you could utilize the heavy weight to achieve a deep and dark decaying wash and still maintain the loud pingy sound and crisp attack of the bow. The crash riding sound is really beautiful weirdly enough, but it seems so powerful and loud that it becomes difficult to manage output wise.

This may be something im more sensitive as I really enjoy the video; however, it's hard to really hear what he's saying over the drums in the background. I do enjoy the transition, but I would love to hear his voice more clearly and over the drums.

Love the bow, like the bell, HATE the crash. Its way to thick on the edge to be played like a crash. Zildjian got the closest to the perfect all aspect ride with that concept shop k crash ride they did with Craig Reynolds.

1:25 please be in a metal band, just for a record.
Or even just one single.
I want to hear this with 8 string guitars!

Sounds good for Hard Rock or Heavy Metal

it's probably cool if you play with baseball bat sized sticks. I'll stick with vintage pure

The stupid looking bell is a big a turnoff.

Meh, surely theres a saturation point with making all these "new/custom" cymbals where you've literally made all the cymbals you could possibly make.

Take that ridiculous logo off the bell and I might consider buying it
