Jacob had a great time at the recent National Cross-Country Championship in Napier and made us all proud by winning the nation title for U14 boys.

It was a long trip from Christchurch, we arrived in time to check out the course on Friday afternoon and to absorb the atmosphere, to get a real sense of the occasion.

Jacob had a race plan and executed it well. He wanted to put into practice learnings from past events where he wasn't entirely happy with himself and felt a podium would be possible. After leading the whole way, he was able to hold off a strong chase from Leo from Auckland, taking the win.

What a great experience, new friendships, a memorable day, and the Napier weather was stunning.
