Lyrics:

It was the best that you could be for me
I think we were lucky just to stay alive
Even when you had only fire to breathe
I know you were only trying to make it right

Change everything I’ve ever known
Try once again to let you go

If you could go back now would you say it differently
If there was no one there would you open up for me
If this was the last time that we would ever speak
Could we forgive somehow could we let it rest in peace

Stories are lost somewhere behind your eyes
You are a dying breed you stand alone
I couldn’t get through no matter how I tried
You tore me apart but still I love you so

Change everything I’ve ever known
Try once again to let you go

If you could go back now would you say it differently
If there was no one there would you open up for me
If this was the last time that we would ever speak
Could we forgive somehow could we let it rest in peace

If you could go back now would you say it differently
If there was no one there would you open up for me
If this was the last time that we would ever speak
Could we forgive somehow could we let it rest in peace

If you could go back now would you say it differently
If there was no one there would you open up for me
If this was the last time that we would ever speak
Could we forgive somehow could we let it rest in peace

Crazy listening to this song in 2024. The band is back together after an unexpected turn of events, released an EP, a reimagined album with Hammock, and a remix of Ocean Avenue with Steve Aoki. Yellowcard literally rose from the dead.

When my cousin passed away in 2009, all I did was repeat Paper Walls and Ocean Avenue in rotation; it got me through most of my grief and pain from the loss. A year later, Yellowcard announced they were getting back together after their long hiatus, and then released When You're Through Thinking, Say Yes. It got me through heartache and motivated me to be fearless and to take more risks.

2012, Southern Air was released and it was one of the first albums I listened to when I got my driver's license. Even though I had lost my way through the streets, their uplifting and inspirational music took me home. Two years later, before Lift A Sail came out, I got the chance to speak with Sean Mackin (one of the most amazing humans I have ever interviewed), although I lost the recording, hearing him speak motivated me to pursue a career as a Music Journalist; to write inspiring stories on bands making their mark in the world like Yellowcard were.

I knew their break up was coming when I saw the tracklist off their self-titled album but I didn't want to admit it. Now that it's actually happening, my heart breaks seeing my favourite band break up. I just want to say thank you, Yellowcard for being the guiding light of my life since I was 14. I owe you so much for getting me through the tears, the victories and the milestones I have reached so far. I am eternally grateful for all the music you have given me over the years and I wish you nothing but the best. My friends and I will be carrying heavy hearts for a while but your music will always fuel my heart with love and happiness. I can't thank you enough for everything.

I've been here since One for the Kids. I saw them at the Kennel for the first time. I saw them again at the Arya in Las Vegas. I owned every album. I woke up to it almost everyday. Every hard time. Every happy time. Every break up. Every reunion. Long miles on the road. Yellowcard was there. Always. And they will continue to be there. They are a part of my life. I really can't thank them enough for their art.

It's sad but I think it's actually a good time for them to end it. I don't want them to be one of those bands that replaces all their members and trudges along no matter how bad it gets.

I found Yellowcard about a month ago, so I wasn't here when all this was happening, but now I saw it here, I'm really crying ... it's so beautiful I don't know what to say. I'm so sorry that Yellowcard is dead
I think this band was more than just a band
I think they were for many people a big piece of their hearts
In their songs are beautiful feelings and secrets that helping me to live some good life It's so hard for me and I don't really know what I want to say, but maybe just: thanks?
Yellowcard definitely forms a beautiful part of music history

and one more thing: it's not so sad actually because those people who love Yellowcard are still here and I am so glad that I can be part of this community. And this community will never die because for example people like me? about month ago I didn't know that Yellowcard even exist and now I am in love with them
I have a brand new future ahead of me with Yellowcard and I'm so excited to listen more and more music they've made!!!

sorry for mistakes I don't speak english

I was 13 in 2003 when I heard ocean avenue, and since then I have listened to many of their songs. I feel sad because they are not together anymore but their legacy will continue. Thank you for all the songs!

In my opinion, they returned and released the best song of 2016. Thank you for everything Yellowcard.

Just bought Ocean Avenue a few days ago. This announcement makes me really regretting for not watching them at Jakarta in 2011 and 2014. More sad than Tom Delonge-Blink 182 conflict or Fall Out Boy vacuum after Believers Never Dies. Still gonna scream my lungs out, "This will always be the best band in the world!"
