The guy scamming people needs to be arrested for fraud

This happened to our family when I was in 4th grade. The cost was almost double the quote. My parents could not afford the new cost. Then the company charged crazy interest for every day they could not pay. Eventually the moving company auctioned off our stuff to pay the bill. We lost everything. All we had left is what we had in the car when we drove across country.

Pictures, family momentos, all gone. My parent asked if they could pay a partial amount to reclaim photos and such that were worth nothing at auction but were priceless to us. They refused.

This is not just an issue of money. The emotional impact stayed with my siblings and I our whole lives.

Our only photos of our parents wedding or our baby pictures are ones that extended family members shared with us. I am 45 and to this day, anything of emotional value travels in my car with me when moving.

These companies need to be held accountable for this scam.

I'm finding I enjoy Canadian TV more than the stuff in the States.

I hope that the lady with the two children does sue and holds them accountable and then repays everyone who helped her, which would be the fair thing

I just have a rule for myself, I never go for the absolutely cheapest offer.
There's always something fishy about the company if they can charge so much less then the other companies.

He said the magic sentence. “Trust me”.
That is an immediate sign NOT to trust them

They should have filled hundreds of boxes with packing peanuts and then see how much it weighs

To all the people saying you should drive a truck yourself to move, its not that easy for everybody. I have never driven a truck in my life and wouldnt dare drive one soon. Family and friends aren't always going to be able to help you out. Moving is hard work and is time consuming.

This is a huge scam in the USA too. The next biggest problem is U-hauls. They get stolen if you leave them unattended for ten minutes. Las Vegas has a HUGE problem with both.

I worked for a "mom and pop" moving company for several years. They had an outstanding reputation that they worked hard to keep. One or the other of them nearly always went to the customer and surveyed the goods to be moved and gave an estimate of the weight. After loading the truck with their goods went to a certified public scale for weighing.
