A week?!? I would have been digging it out within minutes. I keep tweezers in my little nail clipper case in my purse, just in case.

Yall are way too quick to push antibiotics. It's a splinter! His body will heal that without the use of antibiotics.

You don't need antibiotics for that! This is why we are becoming resistant to them!

Medical School Day1: "Push antibiotics for absolutely everything"

Antibiotics should not be used unnecessarily. The body has managed it in most cases for thousands of years!
Overuse makes the antibiotic ineffective, every doctor should know that.

Super easy splinter removal: If you break off the end of the splinter or “just can’t deal with it now” put some Epsom salts on a cotton pad (about 1/8 to 1/4 tsp), and add a few drops of water. Medical tape or Band-Aid that to the opening of the splinter. Change it daily and it’ll pop out of your skin on its own! Something about the Epsom salt and water reacting to your skin and the wood.

I did this when I had a bad splinter in the bottom of my foot when I was preggo and my hubby was away on a work trip. I remember getting so unreasonably upset when I accidentally broke the splinter in half (yay hormones!) because it was already hard to get my foot/leg in that position once when I was pretty big. The thought of attempting “exploratory splinter surgery” during the week he was away to get that splinter almost sent me into a panic. Luckily, it came out on its own about 2 days after I started the epsom salt packs.

Pus is the bodies way of ejecting foreign bodies. You don't need antibiotics for this particular thing.

For all of us who don't carry antibiotics we just use alcohol.

I've been a carpenter for over 50 years. I've had slivers so big I've been acused of stealing lumber. Most of the smaller ones a week no big deal.

He obviously has no idea how normal folks live . Nobody goes to a doctor for that . Can you even imagine ?

There wouldn't be enough antibiotics stockpiled in the entire USA if people took them every time they got a minor splinter such as this.

I’m a woodworker and had a similar splinter up until this past Thursday. It did get infected, I pressed around it and it shot out with infection and immediately felt better

I used to work as a Glazier and glass splinters were a wild thing to deal with.

When I worked in a warehouse, I could barely wait the 2 hours to finish my shift and take a splinter out. Idk how these people be chillin a week without doing something about it 🤦🏾‍♂️😂

as long as at least a little of the splinter is out you can spread a layer of wood glue over it, allow it to dry, then just peel the glue. Carpenter tested

It's a little splinter, I've had dozens of them and never had to go to a doctor or take antibiotics.

If you can clear up the infection by just cleaning and keeping it cleaned it would be better ...no antibiotics. Our bodies need to fight off minor infections on its own . We are making our amune systems week.
