This is about as basic of a recipie as it gets for bread pudding. What they don't say is grease your pan well. We always began by letting the bread soak a bit in the milk-egg (custard) mixture in a separate bowl first. This also let's you know if you need to add some milk or an egg beaten in milk. We always added sweet spices (think seasoned French toast) to the egg mixture before adding to the bread. You can add raisins or other dried fruit but also fresh cherries pitted and cut in half (quarter or 1/6th if big cherries), shredded apple, fresh apple or apricot dices, and even M&M's; oh, and chopped nuts of different types, sweetened coconut, candied fruit, citrus zest. Bread pudding works excellent with chopped, and stale doughnuts too.
