Reviewing TV Series The Handmaids Tale Set in a dystopian future, a woman is forced to live as a concubine under a fundamentalist theocratic dictatorship.

based on the 1985 novel of the same name by Canadian author Margaret Atwood. The series was ordered by the streaming service Hulu as a straight-to-series order of 10 episodes, for which production began in late 2016. The plot features a dystopia following a Second American Civil War wherein a totalitarian society subjects fertile women, called "Handmaids", to child-bearing slavery.

The first three episodes of the series premiered on April 26, 2017; the subsequent seven episodes were released every Wednesday. In July 2019, the series was renewed for a fourth season, which premiered on April 27, 2021. In September 2019, it was announced that Hulu and MGM were developing a sequel series, to be based on Atwood's 2019 novel The Testaments. In December 2020, ahead of the fourth season premiere, the series was renewed for a fifth season.

It’s so interesting how everyone sees these characters and their behaviors and intentions so differently.

They say there is no greater warrior than a mother protecting her child. June wants Hannah back desperately 😅, and I think June might be building an army of Canadians to fight against Gilead. Also, everything happens for a reason; Janine might encourage Aunt Lydia to help June get Hannah back.
LOL! Great review. Aunt Lydia definitely deserves a punch in the face.

Great review. I think that crowd of Fred/Serena fans are people in Canada who sympathize with the people of Gilead and wish Canada followed in Gilead’s lead. But I agree that they came out of nowhere with no development or warning

Great review! I am finding the pace of this season really confusing. They're rushing the big parts and devoting too much time to underdeveloped parts (like Emily's history with Irene). I thought the artistic choice of having June look into the camera during her testimony was a bit... meh. Like, I get it, but it's not as effective as it could have been since we always have close-ups of her face anyway. I agree with you that many parts of this season seem counterproductive or "too little, too late." I'm interested to see your review of the latest episode. I hope the finale is not a disappointment!

I think this season they’re relying really heavily on the viewers having read The Testaments (the sequel to the original book by Margaret Atwood). If you have the context some of the stuff you pointed out makes sense. Like the Waterford supporters. The beginning of the book takes place in Canada and there’s a huge pool Pro Gilead supporters. I think with the Handmaid support group and Jeanine being back in Gilead, they’re setting up both sides of June’s resistance movement. In The Testaments, June is a rebel living underground and smuggling people out of Gilead. My theory is they’re setting us up to move into that storyline and then eventually into the storyline of Hannah and Nicole.
