The old man next door to me has a patch of these onions that he's kept going for over 10 years. He gave me some of the seed heads and now I grow them in my garden too 😊

Im growing them. Started with a handful of bulbets 2 years ago. My regular garden has over 100 of them this year. i seeded another location with almost as many. All from the original handful. Even the bulbets are edible. The greens are treated like scallions and green onions for the first half of the growing season. I like to harvest when the bulbets are ready to go. Plant or cook/prep the bulbets, and dehydrate the rest of the onion, tops to root base. Onion powder for free.

In the Philippines we call these 'sibuyas dahon' which basically translates to onion leaf it has a sweet and crunchy texture when eaten raw like for garnishes but when you put it on your stir fry you can substitute sibuyas dahon for onion. 🎉

We eat them raw in Egypt, with our favourite breakfast : foul and falafel
