Southampton may be a bigger club but they are championship quality Bournemouth and Brighton may be smaller clubs but are much better and are definitely premier league quality and that’s all that matters in my opinion

Who cares about the size of a club? The size of the stadium is irrelevant too. When it comes down to it you want to see your team go out on the pitch and beat the opposition and that's what Bournemouth did last night. Well done!

He’s annoying but he’s right. Being a ‘big club’ is not having a good team for a few seasons. Wigan had a good team for a bit and no one says they’re bigger than Southampton. Bournemouth and Brighton are historically league 1 teams. Southampton is not usually near that league

Big clubs is whats based on history not just because some Arab has bought a toy 10 years ago and splashed a load of money on it and all of a sudden shirt wearer's of said club are sprouting up all over the world, to me thats not a big club, its just a rich wealthy club.

Modern day fans are a bit thick to be fair, many think football started when the Premier League was formed but hey ho.

As for Southampton, Brighton and Bournemouth debate.

Southampton are obviously a bigger club than those two.
Both Bournemouth and Brighton are far better run clubs in 2024 and far more progressive but we have to decipher the difference of being bigger.

Martin is delusional.Just hoof the bleedin ball up the pitch. The Bayern Job is gone. No way your going to get a top club gig.

Obviously I'm a Brighton fan there far bigger, ridiculous argument, but Brighton did get bigger crowds 77 to to 80 when Brighton were either 3rd 2nd 1st tier n lower in league over those 4 years, which showed Brightons potential as a club then, then some years of decay late 80s 90s n smaller different stadiums, out of Brighton control didn't help, but since 2011 Brighton have Grown n last 3 years really taken off, But we have years to make up to be Saints stature

I am a saints fan. Southampton used to be for many years best team in the south yes we are a bigger team than Brighton and Bournemouth, but atm currently we are not third inline times have changed. We have got some very good players and we have paid out on players but I'm afraid Martin does not know his best starting line up yet he needs to sort it very soon before it's to late, i like us keeping procession but keep playing out from the back is asking for trouble time after time same mistakes and we keep doing it, re give him 4 more games! Am not surprised at all by the result when you sit your best attacking players on the bench why would you do that got to start llanana, archer are a must

Oh I really hate arguments about bigger clubs it’s just so lazy as ultimately clubs ebb and flow with good investment that furthers revenue, certain team evolution and then as a consequence enables competitive on field outcomes. The reality of current situation is Southampton haven’t invested particularly well over the summer and the manager isn’t progressive enough to realise that being adaptive is what top coaches have the ability to do to affect outcomes, and inspire/develop players. And Bournemouth have been able to invest and bring through some solid premier league players with their time in the league on the whole. The comparison of Brighton highlights my point of the ridiculous nature of the big club nonsense. Pretty much anybody in the league would love to be run like Brighton and continually evolving in the trajectory they are currently achieving.

Southampton are miles bigger, there’s literally no argument. Current league success is completely irrelevant, Sunderland are bigger than Brighton, Bournemouth, Brentford, Crystal Palace etc.

Southampton are bigger than Brighton that is true…but Brighton have the better fans. Saints fans are an odd quiet bunch

Being 'a big club' based on history is meaningless. To people around the world, Everton, Nottm Forest, etc are nothing, for example.

yeah we are a bigger club but it’s irrelevant as of now because our team is not better than neither, although i do feel they are capable of more under a different manager and coming away from possession football. it’s amazing, all our goals have come from us being direct.

Obviously he's just a fan, but the sentiment at Ipswich is that everyone wants to rise to the challenge and enjoy the journey. Southampton will have a very tough time finishing above 3 other teams as they seem to be the worst out of the 3 promoted clubs and there isn't an obvious established club that looks like they will be relegated.
