It''s bizarre when people try to compare Remco to Merckx when Pogacar exists. Merckx was the greatest of his era and possible the GOAT, so why are you looking to the guy who is second (or maybe third) best of the current era to draw your comparison lol. I don't know if you heard but there's a guy who just won Giro-Tour-WC in a single season... maybe that's a little closer to Merckx

Stop compairing with someone of the past that is incomparable due to not only the cycling equipment but also a whole other level of mental and nutrition mind wich wasnt present during the Merckx era. It isnt fair towords anyone if we all keep compairing with someone of the past with the present, compair the present with the recent present and not with a gap of 40+ years

You can not compare these eras. Cycling has become way more professional. As a Belgian, I do not compare Eddy Merx with Remco Evenepoel. Different eras, like I said. Remco is just the most talented rider we had in years, no doubt. Till now, his palmarès is outstanding in this era. In the era of Eddy Merx all riders rode basically all race's. This era not. Riders choose their races and work/train accordingly. You just can not compare.

I appreciate seeing an interview, I think from the Olympics, wehre Remco slapped down comparisons to Merckx.

Comparing the two men is useless and rude. EM will forever be a legend of one day races in his era. In our generation Remco will be remember as the "Fastest Man on TT bike", "Belgian Bullet", 2 time Olympic winner, Remcos personality. I always look forward and enjoy watching him pushing the boundaries on whats arguably the best position on a TT bike. He is art in motion its amazing to see. Records mean nothing, what matters is what we enjoy seeing that is more important. Comparing the two eras is useless. I have no clue what went down in EM time and I don't want to open that can of worms. I want to enjoy what is happening now. Because like cycling is all about moving forward never backwards.

He was not the first to do the Olympic double. He is the first man to do that. Look up Sydney Olympic for the first person to do it.

No scary truth here, just a clickbait title

The Cycling Dane has been a Remco doubter. It has been fun, it is now time to own it. You can also own driving the Girmay bandwagon from day #1.

Seeing the foto i thought there was a suspicion of Remco being offspring of Merckx, their faces are almost the same... Nevertheless, i'm for an extension of the term 《cannibal》: the way he and Pogačar win merits this expression! I don't think he will be capable of winning 5 Tours

In ascent, Remco is not as good as Pogacar or Vingeegard...in TT flat route he is a monster, but TT not flat (ascent and flat route), he is not good enough compare with Pogacar and Vingeegard..😊😊😂

At thecyclingdane, Julien Alfred from St. Lucia has won the 2024 Olympic Women's 100M, the first medal of any sort for the island state! Just thought you should know!

I thought the “next Eddie Merx” was Mark Cavendish? Who’s the next Cavendish? C’mon, keep up with the times.

Cycling Dane, get your bloody facts correct! They are NOT monuments they are classics! There are more than 5, Milan SanRemo, Ghent Wevelghem, Tour of Flanders, Paris Roubaix, Liege Bastogne Liege, Paris Tours, Tour of Lombardy, the now defunct Bordeaux Paris. Only ONE rider has won all 7, (Bordeaux Paris not being counted), That is The Emperor, Rik VanLooy. Merckx in fact has won 6 of the 7 CLASSICS. He never won Paris Tours, although he did race it. Facts boy, facts!
