I don't think people are worried they're gonna get jumped in Arena by Dormammu, I think they're worried they won't be able to break into the top 10 anymore. Which, let's be honest, they probably weren't going to be able to anyway, but now they're being told explicitly it's not going to happen. The more Scopely does this with characters like Dormammu, the more the community will start seeing Arena as a problem in the game.

Dormammu will stay very much relevant even in the 2 years it’ll take me to get him. Look at Ultron. He’s one of the top characters in the game even post power curve

So I'd have thought a turn rewind slow would be essential against him (MD, Jubilee, proxima, miles type ability). But also a big damage disrupt, like surfers special, so he can't stealth or get safeguard. Feels like he may be easy pickings

I think we have a pretty intelligent community. However, they seem to have trouble remembering/understanding two concepts.

One is gold always feels bad when we get a level cap increase. Every single time, even the smartest players cannot seem to remember that.

And two, there is no such thing as arena defense. If ppl cannot remember that, then I see a lot of ppl being disappointed (again) when they unlock Dormammu. It’s also why ppl shouldn’t feel like it’s the end of the world, if they aren’t one of the first ppl to unlock him.

The gatekeeping is honestly the only thing that I dislike about the state of the game so far. I’m about 15.5 mil tcp but I play in an alliance with irl friends who are way lower than me. Therefore I’m locked out of blue iso and teal gear. So what I’m just supposed to sacrifice the fun I have with my real friends to beat DD5? No thanks, that’s bs.
